2+0+1+2 = 5 Miler

I’ve done the math, and 2012 must be the year of the Five Miler. That’s right, the Red Lizard Five Miler will be back in 2012. This year we’ll be a little later than the original March date, but I think the move to April should mean better participation.

So, put Sunday, April 22 on your calendar. That’s when Lizards will be hosting our namesake road race in Lake Oswego. Same course as in the past – starting near the Lake Oswego Foot Traffic on Hwy 43/State Street, heading out Old River Road and then looping back to finish in George Rogers Park.

Apart from the course being the same, most of the event details will be simlar to past years. The club puts this event on and the proceeds go to benefit a local high school running program. Last year we bought a team tent for rex Putnam High School, and the year before that we outfit the entire Marshall High track team with shoes. If you can think of a local school in need of something, ideas are always appreciated.

More details will come out as we get closer to race day, but we will need lots of Lizards volunteering to make this event possible. So make sure it’s on your calendar. And with any luck, we will also have a good representation of Lizards racing this event as well. It will once again be part of the USATF Grand Prix, so it should attract some of the best runners in the state. Although I already that all of the best runners in the state will be involved with this event, since our name is all over it – we don’t call it the Red Lizard Five Miler for nothing!
