Winter is rapidly approaching… who’s ready for some trail running action? From mid-November through the end of February, we have some great trail runs planned every other Sunday. So if you are into exploring, you might want to check some of these out.
We kick it off with a bang on Thanksgiving weekend. It starts with the trails of Tryon on Thanksgiving morning. We will meet at the Tryon Creek State Park Nature Center at 8:30am on Thursday, Nov 22, and then do a series of loops around the park that will allow people to run anything from 6 to 12 miles. A perfect way to prepare yourself for whatever size feast you have planned for later in the day.
On the Sunday of the holiday weekend (Nov 25), we will plan to head for Timothy Lake (weather permitting). This is a fantastic 13-mile loop around the lake. On clear days there are great views of the mountain. Plus, not a lot of elevation gain. If the weather looks like we’ll encounter snow on the roads or trail, we will plan to head for the Gorge and do one of the classic trail runs in the area – Eagle Creek. Either one is a great option. If you’re interested in that run, meet at the Mall 205 McMenamins (9710 SE Washington St) and we will carpool from there.
