Christmas lights runs this Monday: Your choice, eastside or westside?

Dazzling displays of holiday lights await you at either of the Lizards' Monday group runs this week.

Both TRL weekly Monday night group runs will be hosting special holiday editions on December 17th, with custom routes designed to maximize Christmas light viewing.

For those on the west side, the regular WAMR (“Westside Alternative Monday Run”) will be transformed into a tour of the best-lit Beaverton neighborhoods.  Meet at Portland Running Company on Scholls Ferry Rd. at 6:00 pm, dressed warmly, festively, and reflectively, for a leisurely run through the lights.  Stay afterward and join the convoy to a WAMR regular’s house for the traditional potluck and gift exchange.

For eastsiders, the annual Peacock Lane Run sets off at 6:00 pm from the N.E. Portland Foot Traffic store (4020 N.E. Fremont), taking runners on a pleasant 6-mile round trip jaunt with a stop to gaze at the famous holiday lights of Peacock Lane.  Return to the store post-run to warm up and partake of the bountiful food and refreshments contributed by the participants.  And if you have any jackets, shoes, toiletries, or household items to spare, you are encouraged to bring them along and donate them for clients of Portland’s Blanchet House.

Both runs are open to runners of all paces and abilities, so come on out for a brisk run, some dazzling holiday displays, and lots of good food and post-run jollity.
