Peacock Lane Run and Potluck

Jacob Buckmaster and Morgan (Foot Traffic manager) at the entrance to Peacock Lane

Twas the week before Peacock, and all through the club… it was time for all Lizards to start preparing for fun.

The annual Peacock Lane run is only a week away. Every year, this is one of the most popular runs we do. And for good reason. It involves running, seeing some holiday lights to get you into the spirit of the season, and then to top that all off, we follow that up with a pretty impressive potluck spread.

This year we are fortunate enough to have the timing work out that our run is on one of the nights they only allow foot traffic onto the street. No cars to contend with (at least on the block where the lights are). And with foot traffic only, it makes perfect sense that we would once again be starting and ending this event from the Foot Traffic store on NE Fremont.

The essential details:
Date: Monday, Dec 16
Time: 6:00 pm. Potluck will start after run (~7:00 pm)
Location: Foot Traffic store, 4020 NE Fremont, Portland
Route: Map Link
Pace: There are usually a lot of people of all paces who attend. If you typically run between 7-10 minute pace, you will most certainly have someone to run with. This run is all about fun, so it’s more about trying to stay together in some groups of similarly paced runners, rather than anyone trying to get in a workout.

Other important info:
Potluck: Definitely plan to stick around for this if you can make the run. If you want to know what would be good to bring along, check out the thread on the message board.

Donations: It has been an annual tradition to have the Peacock Lane run be the final donation event for the Blanchet House. Each year we have members go through their coats and blankets to see what items they can donate to the men who live and work at the Blanchet House – the “soup kitchen” that the club has been helping out at each month for past decade. For more details on what you might bring to donate, check out this thread posted by Linda Wabs.

Safety: We are going to be running the streets of NE/SE Portland. Wear your reflective gear and bring a light.

This event is always a lot of fun. A huge thank you to Foot Traffic for staying open late to allow us to hang out in the store afterwards to drink, eat food, and warm up after braving the cold to see some lights on the run.

Come join in the fun!
