Summer Series Draws to an End

Only 2 more races to go in TRL’s 2014 Summer Series. And they couldn’t be any more different. This Friday, August 1, is the ORRC Dual Duel – where 2-person teams alternate laps on the track to cover a total distance of 10 miles. So a flat and fast track workout that will see big points being given out for a whole lot of people, depending upon which division they decide to race – mens, womens, mixed. Not sure how Rick is going to decide to age grade this event, but with the overall points being given out by which category teams race in, if people are strategic, it would be hard to not score big. And then don’t forget that this Friday is also First Friday – so there will be folks gathering at the NW Lucky Lab if you want to swing by after the race.

Then the following Sunday, August 10, is the finale of the Summer Series – the Timberline Mountain Run. A 7 mile trail run with 3900 feet of elevation change… this thing is going to be tough. But being as it starts at Timberline Lodge, I imagine it will be as scenic as it is painful.

We have finally reached the point in the Summer Series where it gets interesting… since only 5 of the 8 races counts in the final score. So the standings might start changing as some folks who got in their 5 races early now only have a chance to better their lowest score. And even if you don’t think you can crack the top 10, one of the biggest reasons to do Summer Series races is that every race you run means you increase your odds for winning some great prizes in the Summer Series wrap up. Right now there are some great prizes worth up to $250! So jump into one or both of these races and see how you stack up in the open standings and/or age-graded standings, and improve your odds of winning some great giveaways at the Summer Sizzler (more details to come, but tentatively planned for Sept 14).

  1. For this Friday’s ORCC track – I’m guessing its better to organise a partner before the race….or just turn up and see who is available? thx
