Stumptown Cross – Lents Park 5k

The 2014 Stumptown Cross series continues this coming weekend with another short and sweet 5k. The Lents Park race kicks off at 9am on Saturday, October 11 with a single race with all men and women toeing the line together. This is the last single start race, as we move to 6k for women and 8k for men in the final 2 races of the series. Gentlemen – that means this is your last chance to get “chicked” in one of the Stumptown races – so don’t miss this opportunity to get outkicked by one of the most talented and attractive fields you will find in women’s racing.

With the exception of a small hill, a couple turns, and a few tree roots, this is usually a fast grass course – and with rain looking like it doesn’t arrive until after Saturday’s race, this year shouldn’t be any different. The course is still spike-worthy (if you have them and love racing in them), but there are a couple points in each loop around the park where you cross over asphalt pathways – something to keep in mind if you are trying to determine what shoes to wear for your race.

After a record-breaking turnout at race #1, let’s keep the cross country enthusiasm rolling into race #2! Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!

To register or get more details, visit the Stumptown Cross page. Registration will be near the parking lot on SE 92nd, between Holgate and Steele. Google map to Lents Park

And if you didn’t have a chance to try it at race #1, we will once again have Golazo natural sports fuel at the finish.  The folks from Golazo will be there on Saturday to tell you all about this great new product.  I saved some from last race, so I plan to be all juiced up on it before Saturday’s race… in case you were wondering how I went blowing by you ;)

  1. We could use 3 more volunteers with this gig to help with set-up and registration. Need to be there by 730AM.

  2. Last year’s course was a little short. I wonder if this year’s is going to be closer to the mark….

  3. What Everett said. Have you got the course measured out to a full 5K this year?
