  1. When do you anticipate having the revised pace bands online? It looks like the ones currently posted are from the old course so are inaccurate for this year. I am planning to run 3:40 so very much looking forward to being with the Team Lizard pacers for 3:40 so want to print the target time for each mile.

    Thanks much,

    • Great question, Rick.

Based on course changes, and not knowing whether this is a permanent course, we will be aiming for more of the “even split” pacing approach, versus the “even effort” splits. Obviously we will adjust that plan slightly to account for the slow mile up and over the St. Johns Bridge, but we will not be creating new pace bands to reflect this change. So for a 3:40 goal time, we will be aiming to average 8:23 pace (knowing that a few of the flat/downhill miles may be a little faster and the uphill over the bridge will be slower).

  2. Thanks to Charissa Yang, we do have an updated pace band for the 2017 Portland Marathon course. You can download the pdf file from the following page: http://redlizardrunning.com/marathon-pacers/2017pdx_paces_all_cy_finaloct4/
