TRL Board Election Results

Tim helps Raghav cool down during the 2014 Cascade Lakes Relay

For those who haven’t already heard the outcome of the TRL board elections, as of Wednesday, January 20, 2014, we now have 4 new officers in place. While there was only one contested race for the 4 officer positions that TRL members were deciding on, there were still 100 votes cast. That isn’t bad for a club of about 250 members. Sure, 40% voter turnout wouldn’t have gotten us to the double majority required for any tax increases, but fortunately none of the candidates were running on a platform that would require an increase in anything other than your participation.

After spending the past 2 years as VP, Raghav Wusirika was elected as the next president.

Daniel Bartosz ran unopposed for yet another 2-year term as treasurer. This is the 5th tour of duty for Danimal as the treasurer of this club, and with his financial background, we will continue to be in good hands.

Angela Lindbo, who has served as the Apparel Director for the past 2 years decided to throw her name in the hat for Secretary. While a little nervous about how it might affect her ability to drink beer and eat at board meetings while taking notes, she says she is up for the task.

And in our contested race for Vice President, Tim Swietlik just edged out Melissa Cox. It was a close race, and either would have been a solid add to the roster of officers. Melissa just spent the past 2 years as the Director of Special Events. And Tim has been the Pacing Director for the past 8 or so years. As a long-time club member, founder of the Sunday Starbucks group run, and active participant is many club activities, Tim brings a lot of history and love of the club to the position of VP. And before the election results were finalized, Raghav reached out to both candidates encouraging them to both play a role in the new board, regardless of the election outcome.

The next step is for the 4 new officers to determine if they plan to name any directors to the board to help out with specific tasks. The bylaws allow up to 9 directors to be named, so the officers will be thinking about needs and who might be able to help fill those. If you are interested in board service, it’s not too late to let one of them know…

Congrats to the newly elected officers, and thank you to everyone who voted in the election process.
