Summer Series Kicks off April 2 – Dogwood Dash 5k

Ready to let your hair down and tear up the Summer Series?

We technically just entered spring, but things are about to heat up. No, I’m not talking about climate change; I am talking about the kick off race in TRL’s Summer Series!

This year, we are starting things off with a new event in the lineup – the Dogwood Dash 5k in Milwaukie. This race will be a great way to kick things off, since 1) it is a nice little 5k, and 2) it benefits the school that one of our fellow Lizards works at (Carre Heineck teaches at St John the Baptist Catholic School).

Event details and registration are available on-line at this link, but here is what you need to know about the first event:

Dogwood Dash 5k
Saturday, April 2
Milwaukie City Hall (10722 SE Main St, Milwaukie, OR)
Race starts at 9:15am
Post event beer (Happy Valley Station) and food trucks!
Register by March 31

Besides just being a fun excuse to show up at an event with your fellow Lizards, there are a few changes to the Summer Series this year. You can read the rules and details here, but the prizes this year could really make it worth your while. We are still working on nailing down the full list of prizes, but so far we have some pretty sweet stuff lined up, including a wine tasting for 8, a night at the Benson, and Thai massage from D.J. We will keep adding to that list, but with some of those prizes being distributed based on participation, getting out there for the races is the one thing you can do to ensure you are in the running for these great prizes.

Come join the Summer Series fun!

I am running Boston for the second time this year. Last year when I did my last runs solo on the Charles River Esplanade I saw several large groups running. Thought it would be great if the Lizards could gather for a group run this year. I know there are a number of us going and thought it would be great if we could meet on either Saturday or Sunday morning for a shake out run. I am staying closest to either the Fairfield or Massachusetts Ave. pedestrian overpasses to the Esplanade.
By now everyone has gotten their “Official packet” and their wave and corral assignments. Can you let us know your spot in the race so fellow lizards can cheer you on. I am in wave 3 corral 2 so I know a number of you will be in a hot shower by the time I reach the finish line.
