Stumptown Cross Kicks Off in Just Over One Month

http://www.wingoodbody.photography/

Brace yourselves, boy and girls… that time of year we all look forward to will be here before you know it. Yes, I am talking about cross country season.

TRL will once again be putting together the Stumptown Cross series. Five action-packed races on most of the standard courses we use each year. This year has a few changes, since Lents Park will be under construction – so we will replace that 5k with a shorter format race at Fernhill Park. Then we will return to that park for a pre-nationals race in mid-November to wrap up the series.

The series will kick off with the usual – a 5k out at Portland Meadows before the Nike Pre-nationals meet. Always a fun and fast way to start the season (unless it pours down rain and the wind is blowing sideways like it was a few years ago… but we can only order special XC like that every once in a while). Be sure you have Saturday, Sept 24 on your calendar.

Here is the full 5-race line-up:
Race #1: Saturday, September 24th at Portland Meadows. 8:00am – 5k
Race #2: Sunday, October 2nd at Fernhill Park. 9am – Women 5k; 9:30 – Men 5k
Race #3: Saturday, October 22nd at Gabriel Park. 9am – Women 4 miles; 9:45am Men 4 miles
Race #4: Saturday, November 5th at Pier Park. USATF Oregon State XC Championships. 9am – Women 6k; 9:45am – Men 8k
Race #5: Saturday, November 19th at Fernhill Park. 9am – Women 6k; 9:45am – Men 10k

One thing to note in the schedule is that race #2 will be on a SUNDAY versus Saturday. We were trying to avoid Portland Marathon, as well as find an open date when the Huber Timing was available. And I know you all love the accurate and prompt results Jeff provides – so there was no way we would have a race without him.

You can get the schedule, course maps, other details, as well as the link to register, at the Stumptown web site: http://redlizardrunning.com/cross-country-series/

Time to get your teams organized, motivated, and training for some of the most competitive racing in Stumptown. See you out for some XC this fall!
