Stumptown Cross race #4 is coming up on November 5. Pier Park is the venue where the events will be held. The women will race a 6k starting at 9:00am, followed by the men racing 8k at 9:45am.
As in past years, we will be partnering with USATF-Oregon to make this the state championship XC event. As if the Stumptown races weren’t competitive enough, this could be the motivation everyone needs to show up and see how they stack up.
Being a USATF member isn’t required to participate in this event; if you are signed up for the series, or even for this event, you will be scored as an individual and team under the standard Stumptown series scoring. But if you want to be eligible for any of the medals that USATF will be providing for top placing men and women, you will need to provide your USATF membership number. If you think you might want to join USTAF, you can always do so at the event, or register on-line ahead of time. If you think you might want to participate in either the USATF Team nationals event in December, or the race to be held in Bend next February, you will need to be a USATF member for those events. If you are a bargain shopper like me, you should join USATF after November 1, since then you get 14 months for the price of a single year (your membership will include Nov and dec 2016, as well as all of 2017).
So there you have it – if you are ready for some hay bales, grass, and rolling hills, Pier Park is going to be a race you will not want to miss. If you need to register, want to check out the course maps, or need any other details about the event, check out the Stumptown Cross web site: redlizardrunning.com/cross-country-series/
See you out there!
