December has arrived, and that means there is more stuff going on than you can shake a stick at. While I am not entirely sure how Lizards usually react to a shaking stick, I suspect that in this case they respond by putting these events on their calendar and planning to join for as many as they can.
The first of the Great Train Chase events has already occurred. But if you missed out on the Dec. 4 edition, there is one more opportunity to run with the trains coming up on Dec. 18 at 6pm. Check this thread on the message board for details.
This coming Saturday (Dec 10) there are 2 Lizard events happening. The Lizard Lads Holiday Beverage Tasting and the Girls Gift Exchange. Both events take place at the same time, 1-4pm, since we would hate for boys and girls to co-mingle…
Lizard Lad Holiday Beverage Tasting details can be found in this thread on the message board, but the essential details are that the event will take place at Raghav’s house starting at 1pm. Bring the beverage of your choice (for many that will be a holiday ale), but there will be awards given in 3 categories this year – best beer, best other alcoholic beverage and best non-alcoholic beverage.
Girls Gift Exchange details can be found in this thread on the message board, but the essential details are that it will be held at Angela’s house starting at 1pm. Bring some food for the potluck and a wrapped gift (valued at $25 or less).
Peacock Lane Run and Potluck takes place on Monday, Dec. 19. This annual tradition includes running, eating, drinking AND Christmas lights. All of the details you need are in this thread on the message board, but the essential info you need is that we will meet at 6pm at the Foot Traffic store (4020 NE Fremont) and then head out for the 6 mile run, which includes a stop at Peacock Lane to take in the lights and holiday decorations. Running and lights are great, but the post-run potluck may be the real reason you want to show up. Don’t miss out on this holiday tradition!
Purge & Splurge is the final event of the holiday season. This New Year’s Eve tradition happens each year on Dec. 31, and since that falls on a weekend this year, I imagine it will be bigger than usual. The goal of this event is to do a monster run as a “purge” before you head off to your New Year’s party to “splurge”. Whether a purge for you involves joining folks intending to run the entire 30 mile length of Wildwood Trail, or a shorter version (10, 15, 20 or 25 miles), the process is for everyone to meet at the end point for the distance they plan to run, and then carpool out to the Newberry end of Wildwood for a group start at 9am. All of the details you need are in this thread on the message board.
Hoping to see you out for some or all of these Lizard Holiday Happenings!
