Looking for a running adventure off the asphalt? Perhaps the more important question is whether you want to see Tim Not-really-on-facebook-or-a-trail-runner Swietlik embrace an unpaved surface? If you answered yes to either of those questions, then you might want to plan to join TRL for the Dougan Falls run this coming Saturday.
Dougan Falls is along the Washougal River. Google map link to Dougan Falls location Sounds like there are miles of old forest service/logging roads in the area. Tim assures me the main road (#2000) has 4.5 miles of relatively flat terrain before it climbs for a mile, but then the road keeps going. So you could get 9 miles of relatively flat running on an out-back, or you could do some climbing and keep going. Tim says he has run out 7 miles (which would make for 14 miles total), but that there are miles and miles of logging road, and even single track trail, that continue from there. So you could choose your own adventure should you decide you need to put in a really long run.
The plan is to meet for carpool from Tapped Brew House & Pub (2005 SE 192nd Ave #100, Camas, WA) at 8:30am. Carpool from there to the trailhead (about 30 minute drive from there), run, and then grab lunch at Tapped when we get back to the carpool location.
If you are game to explore new places, you should plan to join the Lizard crew next Saturday.
