Attention Trail Lizards – it is time to get out and explore the soft surfaces that surround us (and yes, that likely means some mud in the winter). But there are several great opportunities coming up in the next month to join a group for some trail exploration.
Sunday, Feb 12 – Wilson River Trail.
Details about this great riverside trail in the Coast Range can be found in this thread on the message board. The key things you need to know is that we will meet to carpool at the Sunset Transit Center/Park & Ride at 8:30am on Sunday, Feb 12. The trail is long, but the majority of folks will likely run a couple hours and cover ~12 miles (some may opt for more or less). We will grab some food on the drive home, and should have you back to your car by 2pm.
Saturday, March 11 – Oswald West/Manzanita
OK, this will likely be a long weekend for many. Last year we had a good sized group spend the weekend at the beach. But we also had plenty of folks drive over for the day just to join the run on Saturday. If you can join for the full weekend, you should. Markiemo has a condo in Manzanita – so there might be a spot for you to stay there. Or we also had some folks rent houses in town, so there might be an option for folks interested in joining to rent other places – it was relatively affordable to do that last year, as this is still during the “off season” at the coast.
There is a thread on the message board for planning this adventure. So more details to come, but post if you are interested in joining and if you have any thoughts on where you might like to run on both Saturday and Sunday.
And then there are still other weekends group trail runs could be planned in late February or into March. If you have ideas of places you would like to explore, or if you are interested in possibly leading a run, check out the trail running thread on the message board.
Hope to see many of you out on the trail soon!
