Stumptown Cross is Just Around the Corner

Attention cross country lovers: Stumptown Cross kicks off in just over a month! I realize we are all still enjoying the warm rays of summer sun, but crisp fall mornings with dew on the grass will be here before you know it. It’s time to start planning ahead, so reach out to your teammates and make sure they start working off that beer belly they started forming over the summer, mark the following dates on your calendar, and get yourself registered. runsignup.com/StumptownXC

The 2017 calendar looks like this:
Race #1: Saturday, September 30 – Portland Meadows. 8:00am 5k – combined field
Race #2: Saturday, October 14 – Lents Park. 9am – Women’s 5k & 9:30 – Men’s 5k
Race #3: Saturday, October 21 – Gabriel Park. 9am – Women’s 4 miles & 9:45am Men’s 4 miles
Race #4: Saturday, November 4 – Pier Park. USATF Oregon State XC Championships. 9am – Women’s 6k & 9:45am – Men’s 8k
Race #5: Saturday, November 18 – Fernhill Park. USATF Regional XC Championships. 9am – Women’s 6k & 9:45am – Men’s 10k

You saw correctly, we will be hosting the regional XC championships here again in Portland this year, so this should be a great series. Competition is always great at Stumptown, but it’s always fun to have our series build up to the state and regional races. Who doesn’t love having our friends from up north (Club Northwest, Seattle Running, etc.) come down for a visit? Let’s be sure we are fit and ready to roll out the welcome mat as we defend the Cascadia title

And in case you are really trying to make sure your calendar is filled with important dates, some may be planning on making the trip to USATF club nationals on December 9 in Lexington, Kentucky.

To register, find course maps or other details, visit the the Stumptown Cross web page

And one final note for TRL members, don’t forget that when you register, you can enter the following code when registering on-line:
TRLXCSERIES for $10 off the series registration
TRLRACE for $5 off an individual race

OK, I guess that wasn’t the FINAL note for TRL members… if you do think you might be interested in making the trip to USATF club nationals, the club will be offering registration and lodging support for members who participate in at least 3 of the Stumptown series races. For more details, contact Torrey (torrey@redlizardrunning.com), but I wanted to at least mention the 3 race minimum so you could at least be planning ahead.

OK, time to register! runsignup.com/StumptownXC
