Special Olympics – Mount Hood Community College. Saturday, June 2nd, 2018

By Lou Karl

Call out to Lizard Nation! We will once again be staging the Oregon Regional Special Olympics Track and Field meet at Mount Hood Community College track and need your help.

2018 will be TRL’s 16th year organizing and coordinating this awesome event. This is one of five Regional Special Olympics meets around the state and it is by far the largest. It attracts about 350 athletes and is a stepping stone to the Oregon State Special Olympics meet, the U.S. National Special Olympics meet and the Special Olympics World Championships. It is a very big deal for these athletes.

We need nearly 100 volunteers to make pull this thing off. Go to the Lizard message board for a list of volunteer tasks and times. You can volunteer all day (8:30am – 4:00pm) or just the morning or afternoon; whatever works for you. Volunteers will receive a Special Olympics Volunteer T-shirt, and all day volunteers a complimentary lunch. However, the bling will pale in comparison to the heartfelt satisfaction you will feel helping these athletes to achieve their goals.

You can sign up or ask questions by posting in the message board thread or contacting me directly:
