Stumptown Cross Prepares for USATF State and Regional Championship Races

For the past several years, Team Red Lizard has partnered with USATF-Oregon to have some of the races included in the Stumptown Cross be USATF championship events. This year is no different. We have already had one event (Lents Park) that served as the Oregon 5k championships, and as we head into the final races of the season, we have a few more races where USATF members participating in the Stumptown races will be scored individually and as teams.

The Pier Park races (6k for women and 8k for men) on November 9 will serve as the Oregon state association championships. And the November 23 races (8k for both women and men) at Fernhill Park will serve as the Pacific Northwest regional championships. The championship aspect of both races should see more teams and individuals joining us to ramp up the already competitive nature of these races.

One of the questions that often comes up is whether you need to be a USATF member to participate in the Stumptown Cross races where we partner with USATF. No, you don’t need to be a USATF member. Whether you are signing up for an individual race, or have signed up for the series – all you need to do is show up and race.

If you are a USATF member, or plan to join since you want in on the state or regional championship scoring, you can check or update your USATF status in runsignup simply by logging in and updating your entry. Many already added this info when they registered. But I know that some wait until after November 1 to renew or join, since you get the following years membership included after Nov 1. If that is the case, you can let us know ahead of time by emailing torrey@redlizardrunning.com, or just inform the volunteers when you are picking up you number on race day that you joined – we can make sure to update you in the system.

All of the details you need on Stumptown Cross can be found on the Stumptown Cross web page. Looking forward to the final few races of this year’s series. See you out there, whether you are a USATF member, or not.
