The Holiday Season Draws Near!

The holiday season is almost upon us and that means we are planning several festive group runs for November and December. These are not yet all finalized and there will be more details closer to the time, but here is what is coming up.

Thanksgiving Day Run in Tryon Creek
We will meet at 8.30 am at the nature center in Tryon Creek Park for an hour run around the trails. This is always a well-attended run and a great chance to build up an appetite before dinner!

Peacock Lane Run

This will be a run of about 6 miles out to Peacock Lane to view the Christmas lights. We haven’t decided on a start and finish location yet, or finalized a date, but it will likely be a week night in December.

Great Train Chase

Starting at Oaks Bottom, we will race the holiday train along the Springwater corridor towards OMSI, chase the streetcar and Max trains around downtown and finish by racing the holiday train a second time back to Oaks Bottom. This will tentatively happen in the after of Sunday December 18th.

Purge and Splurge
This is a chance to expend some serious calories on the Wildwood trail on New Year’s Eve. The run requires some co-ordination but basically, having decided how far you want to run, you park your car at the appropriate trailhead and carpool to the Newberry Road end for a 9am start. 11 miles is usually the most popular distance but some will run 15 and usually a few brave souls run the entire length.
